Boating collision on Tickfaw River leaves two dead on Sunday morning.

Two people were killed early Sunday in a tragic boating accident on the Tickfaw River near Kings Point in Livingston Parish, Louisiana. The collision between a pontoon boat and a Sea Fox boat resulted in the death of a 27-year-old female passenger of the Sea Fox boat and a 36-year-old male operator of the pontoon boat. Wildlife and Fisheries officials were alerted to the incident around 12:17 a.m. Sunday and found the boats heavily damaged and capsized.

The female passenger was trapped under the capsized Sea Fox boat and was retrieved by authorities, but later pronounced dead at North Oaks Hospital. The male operator of the pontoon boat was recovered around 12:45 a.m. after a search involving multiple agencies.

Three individuals from each boat were taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities reported that none of the passengers were wearing personal flotation devices. The cause of the crash is still unknown, and Wildlife and Fisheries will be leading the investigation.

This devastating incident serves as a reminder of the importance of safety while boating, including wearing proper safety gear. As the community mourns the loss of two individuals, authorities are working to determine the circumstances that led to the collision.
