Louisiana Teacher of the Year Awarded to Rayne High School Teacher


The Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) held its 18th Annual Cecil J. Picard Educator Excellence Awards Gala in New Orleans, honoring top teachers and leaders in the state. The event showcased the Louisiana Teacher and Principal of the Year, Louisiana Early Childhood Teacher and Leader of the Year, and Louisiana New Teacher of the Year. Elise Boutin from Acadia Parish was named Louisiana Teacher of the Year for her work in connecting students with local broadcasting opportunities and community activities. Dr. Amanda Austin from Iberville Parish was named Louisiana Principal of the Year for her efforts in reviving North Iberville High School with a STEM magnet program. Other division-level honorees included J. Joy Stalnaker, Christopher Kourvelas, and Dr. Suresh Babu Chiruguru. Nicole Williams Ross from Jefferson Parish was named Louisiana Early Childhood Teacher of the Year, while Rockeisha Walker from Iberville Parish was named Louisiana Early Childhood Leader of the Year. Tiffany Pfeifer from Calcasieu Parish was named Louisiana New Teacher of the Year for her commitment to fostering a love of learning in her students. State Superintendent of Education Cade Brumley commended the honorees for their dedication to improving education in Louisiana. This year’s winners exemplify excellence in teaching and leadership throughout the state.
