The Southeastern Louisiana University softball program has announced the addition of former Lady Lion standouts Kaylan Ladner and Madison Rayner to their coaching staff. Both Ladner and Rayner, who graduated in 2023, will be assistant coaches pending approval from the University of Louisiana System’s Board of Supervisors.
Head coach Rick Fremin expressed excitement about the new hires, highlighting the success that Ladner and Rayner had as student-athletes and their potential to continue that success in their new roles. Both players transferred to Southeastern from Southern Miss and had impressive careers with the Lady Lions.
Rayner, a second team All-SLC selection in 2022, will work with the team’s infielders and offense, while Ladner, an All-Southland honoree in 2023, will handle the pitchers. Additionally, Schran Ladner will join the staff in a player development role, bringing experience from coaching at the high school and travel ball levels in Mississippi.
The team will kick off its fall exhibition schedule on September 27 against Northeast Alabama Community College, with the regular season starting in February at the LSU Invitational. Fans looking to support the softball program can join the Home Run Club or the exclusive S Club for Lady Lion softball alums.
