In the heptathlon long jump event, Martha Araujo of Colombia scores a personal best of 6.61m, taking the lead temporarily. However, Katarina Johnson-Thompson bounds in and scores 6.40m, moving back to the top of the standings. Belgian Noor Vidts and GB’s Jade O’Dowda also put in solid jumps.
In the men’s team table tennis, France competes against Japan for a bronze medal. Katarina Johnson-Thompson is set to compete in the women’s heptathlon long jump event.
In the women’s golf individual strokeplay, Morgane Metraux leads with -8, closely followed by China’s Yin Ruoning. Nelly Korda, the world No 1, is on -2 after a difficult 16th hole.
In the men’s 10km swim, Kristof Rasovszky wins gold, with Oliver Klemet in second and David Betlehem in third. The race saw tight competition with Rasovszky eventually securing the win.
The race also saw disqualifications and injuries, with Australia’s Moesha Johnson waking up with cuts from reeds lining the banks. Turkish swimmer Kuzey Tuncelli was disqualified for breaching rules.
The 10km marathon race continued with lead changes and tight competition among swimmers, with Rasovszky and Wellbrock competing for the top spot. Florian Wellbrock, a former world champion, surged ahead of Rasovszky in lap three.
