Jonathan Bloomer and his wife, along with lawyer Chris Morvillo and his wife, are among those missing after the yacht Bayesian capsized near Palermo in a violent storm. Officials have confirmed the death of the ship’s cook, and there are fears that people may be trapped inside the cabins. Rescue operations by Italy’s national fire department and coast guard, as well as divers using underwater vehicles, have been ongoing. Survivors have been rescued and investigated at the Coast Guard Headquarters. The yacht Bayesian, built by Perini Navi in 2008, belonged to a firm linked to Lynch’s wife, who was among those rescued. The yacht could carry 12 guests and 10 crew members, and had the tallest aluminum sailing mast in the world. Lynch, known as “Britain’s Bill Gates,” was previously acquitted of fraud charges related to the sale of his software company Autonomy. The search for missing passengers and crew members continues as authorities attempt to navigate the challenging circumstances of the capsized yacht.
