After celebrating the U.S. women’s national soccer team’s victory at the Olympics a little too enthusiastically, Lynn Williams revealed that her gold medal was damaged during the post-game party. In a TikTok video, she joked that she had turned the medal into the world’s “most expensive coaster” after it broke while she was dancing at a celebration party. Despite the initial attachment bar breaking off, she still proudly showed off the damaged medal to her fans. Williams explained that she had been dancing with the medal around her shoulder when it fell off as she jumped down, causing a dent in it. The team has since contacted the International Olympic Committee to inquire about a potential repair or replacement for the damaged medal. Williams humorously suggested that the medals should have been made more sturdy to withstand such festivities and accidents. Despite the mishap, she remains proud of her team’s undefeated run at the 2024 Paris Olympics and their 1-0 win against Brazil in the final match.
