British journalist team member killed by Russian missile strike on Ukrainian hotel


A British safety adviser, Ryan Evans, working with a team of journalists in the Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk was killed after a Russian missile struck the hotel they were staying in. Two other members of the reporting team were hospitalized with injuries. Evans had previously worked with Reuters journalists in Ukraine, Israel, and at the Paris Olympics. The hotel and a nearby building were destroyed in the attack, causing blast injuries, concussions, and cuts to the journalists.

Elsewhere in Ukraine, the eastern Kharkiv region also came under Russian fire, resulting in multiple civilian injuries. In Kharkiv’s Chuhuiv region, a 4-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl were among five people injured when two houses were hit by a Russian strike. In Kharkiv city, eight people were wounded when a two-story house was set on fire by Russian attacks. In Russia, five people died in Ukrainian shelling in the border region of Belgorod, with twelve others wounded in the village of Rakitone, including a critically injured 16-year-old girl.

The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine has resulted in significant casualties and destruction in various regions, including the deaths and injuries of civilians and journalists caught in the crossfire. Despite international efforts to negotiate a ceasefire, the violence continues to escalate, causing further harm to innocent people caught in the conflict.
