Kapsch TrafficCom has been selected as the tolling contractor for the Interstate 10 Calcasieu River Bridge project in Louisiana, a major infrastructure initiative valued at over US$2.3bn. The contract will last for 50 years and Kapsch will provide end-to-end tolling services for the project. The aim of the project is to improve traffic on the key I-10 corridor in Lake Charles and support advancements in traffic infrastructure in Southwest Louisiana.
JB Kendrick, president at Kapsch TrafficCom North America, expressed their honor to be a part of such a transformative project and highlighted the confidence in their technology and expertise. Leveraging their current deployments in Louisiana, Kapsch will provide roadside and back-office systems for the project over the next five decades.
The tolling system is designed to begin operating once the bridge opens to traffic to ensure efficient and seamless toll collection. This project marks a significant milestone in their efforts to enhance Louisiana’s transportation infrastructure.
Kapsch TrafficCom will also be participating in Akabo Media’s global series of Road User Charging Conferences in multiple locations to discuss key trends and challenges affecting senior decision-makers in tolling, intelligent transportation systems, and road pricing.
