The Louisiana State Police reported that a 2-vehicle crash in Livingston Parish claimed the life of 47-year-old Raymond Lexia Jr. from Independence, Louisiana. The crash occurred on August 26 on LA 43 near Turkey Creek Road. Lexia was driving a Ford Ranger northbound on LA 43 when a Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Mitchell Ballard traveling southbound, went off the roadway, overcorrected, and entered the northbound lanes, resulting in a head-on collision with the Ford. Lexia was pronounced dead at the scene, while Ballard was arrested and booked for Negligent Homicide and Careless Operation. Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash. The incident is still under investigation by State Police. This tragic accident serves as a reminder of the importance of safe driving practices on the roadways.
