Louisiana Tech Athletics department has partnered with Smoothie King to introduce the Spirit of ’88 smoothie ahead of the 2024 football season. The proceeds from the sales of this special smoothie will go towards benefiting the Bulldog Community Outreach NIL program for student-athletes.
The collaboration was announced by Ryan Ivey, Vice President and Director of Athletics at LA Tech, and Bradley Walker, a Smoothie King franchisee and a 2004 graduate of the university. The Spirit of ’88 smoothie features a Power Slim Vanilla base with Blue Spirulina, multivitamins, bananas, Califia Farms Almond Milk, and Power Slim Protein.
This partnership is a way for Smoothie King to give back to the community and support the mission of inspiring a healthy and active lifestyle. Fans can show their support for the program by enjoying the new smoothie or by contributing to the Bulldog Community Outreach NIL program.
The Spirit of ’88 statue, which initially stood at the south end of Joe Aillet Stadium, symbolizes the challenges faced by the 1988 Bulldog football team as they transitioned to Division I-A football. The statue has since been relocated inside the Davison Athletics Complex and serves as a symbol of perseverance and victory for the team.
