Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee for President, will be sitting down for her first formal interview of the campaign with CNN’s Dana Bash on Thursday. This will be the first time Harris has taken questions in an interview format since Joe Biden exited the race and she took his place. The interview will air at 9pm EST and will take place in Georgia, a key battleground state.
Harris has faced criticism from Donald Trump and the Republican Party for not holding a formal news conference or conducting a one-on-one media interview. Trump’s campaign claimed that Harris is not competent enough to do the interview on her own, as she will be joined by her running mate Tim Walz.
At the Democratic National Convention, Harris detailed some broad policy agendas, including a middle-class tax cut and a strong foreign policy stance. Despite not conducting as many formal interviews as Biden, Harris has been more accessible to the media, often speaking with reporters off the record during travel and trips on Air Force Two.
The CNN interview with Harris and Walz will be recorded during a campaign bus tour by the Democratic candidates. This interview will provide an opportunity for Harris to outline her policy proposals and respond to questions against the backdrop of a contentious election season.
