A Pakistani truck driver, Munir Ahmed, was shot five times during an attack by ethnic militants in the province of Balochistan. The attackers stopped his convoy of trucks, lined up the drivers, and opened fire, leaving them for dead. The Baloch Liberation Army claimed responsibility for the attacks which resulted in at least 70 deaths. Rescuers initially believed Ahmed was dead and transported him, along with the bodies of his colleagues, to a hospital where medical staff realized he was still alive. Despite being hit by five bullets, Ahmed was in stable condition. He was upset by the deaths of his colleagues and uncertain about his future after such a violent disruption to his livelihood. The attacks were part of a widespread assault in which attackers targeted buses, pulled off passengers, and killed men in front of their families. The provincial chief minister reported that civilians were among the 23 people killed during these violent incidents. Ahmed, recovering in a hospital far from his home in Punjab, shared his horror and vague memories of the attack, highlighting the impact of the violence on his life and the uncertainty he faced moving forward.
