A recent study conducted by the mattress review website, Sleep Junkie, has found that sports fans from Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas are among the most sleep-deprived in the United States. The study looked at the sleeping habits of fans in various states and found that those in the Southern region tend to stay up late watching their favorite teams play.
According to the study, Texas sports fans are the least likely to get a full night’s sleep, with an average of only 6 hours and 56 minutes of sleep per night. Louisiana fans closely follow, averaging 7 hours and 4 minutes of sleep, while Arkansas fans get slightly more sleep at 7 hours and 7 minutes.
The study also found that Texas fans are more likely to watch late-night sports games, with 42% stating that they regularly stay up past midnight to watch their teams play. Louisiana and Arkansas fans also stay up late, with 38% and 34% respectively staying up past midnight to catch games.
The study suggests that the late game times for many sports events, particularly those on the West Coast, may be contributing to the sleep deprivation among these fans. Additionally, the excitement and emotional investment in their teams may also be keeping fans up late into the night.
It is important to note that while being a dedicated sports fan can lead to sleep deprivation, getting enough rest is crucial for overall health and wellbeing. Fans from Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas may want to consider finding a balance between their love for sports and their need for a good night’s sleep.
