Since Israel escalated its strikes in Lebanon in September, around 1.2 million people have been displaced from their homes. In a recent airstrike on a refugee camp in northern Lebanon, a Hamas official named Saeed Atallah Ali and his family were killed. The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has resulted in nine Israeli soldiers losing their lives in southern Lebanon.
The Netherlands has started repatriating its citizens from Lebanon as the situation continues to intensify. In a recent flight to Eindhoven Air Base, 185 people, including Dutch citizens and their family members, arrived. This comes as other European countries are also taking steps to bring their citizens back home from the conflict zone.
The violence between Israel and Hezbollah has been ongoing, with daily exchanges of fire across the Lebanese border. This conflict was sparked by a cross-border attack by Hamas on October 7, 2023, which led to significant casualties on both sides. The Israeli response in Gaza resulted in the deaths of over 41,000 Palestinians, with more than half being women and children.
In Lebanon, nearly 2,000 people have lost their lives since the start of the conflict, with a majority of the deaths occurring after September 23. The Lebanese Health Ministry has been tracking the casualties, highlighting the devastating impact of the ongoing violence in the region.
