Mandeville Resident Arrested for Animal Cruelty After Discovery of 11 Emaciated Dogs, Sheriff Reports – WWLTV.com

A Mandeville man has been arrested for animal cruelty after 11 emaciated dogs were found on his property, according to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office received a tip about possible animal cruelty at the residence, leading officers to investigate the matter. When they arrived at the scene, they discovered 11 dogs in extremely poor condition, malnourished and suffering from neglect.

The dogs were immediately removed from the property and taken to a local animal shelter for care and treatment. The owner of the dogs, identified as a 35-year-old man from Mandeville, was arrested and charged with animal cruelty. He is currently being held in the parish jail pending further legal proceedings.

Sheriff Randy Smith expressed his shock and disgust at the condition in which the dogs were found, stating that animal cruelty will not be tolerated in St. Tammany Parish. He urged the public to report any suspected cases of animal abuse or neglect to authorities so that swift action can be taken to protect the welfare of animals in the community.

The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible pet ownership and the need to properly care for and provide for animals in our care. The sheriff’s office is working closely with local animal welfare organizations to ensure that the dogs receive the necessary care and attention they deserve.

The arrested man’s identity has not been released, and it is unclear what penalties he may face if convicted of animal cruelty. The investigation is ongoing, and more details may emerge as the case progresses.
