A Mandeville man has been arrested for animal cruelty after 11 emaciated dogs were found on his property, according to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office received a tip about possible animal cruelty at the residence, leading officers to investigate the matter. When they arrived at the scene, they discovered 11 dogs in extremely poor condition, malnourished and suffering from neglect.
The dogs were immediately removed from the property and taken to a local animal shelter for care and treatment. The owner of the dogs, identified as a 35-year-old man from Mandeville, was arrested and charged with animal cruelty. He is currently being held in the parish jail pending further legal proceedings.
Sheriff Randy Smith expressed his shock and disgust at the condition in which the dogs were found, stating that animal cruelty will not be tolerated in St. Tammany Parish.
