In a new ad from the progressive evangelical group Vote Common Good, actor George Clooney encourages male voters to vote for Harris and Walz in the upcoming election, even if their Republican friends may not approve. The 30-second ad shows a man who initially plans to vote to make America great again, but changes his mind after seeing his daughter near the ballot booth. Clooney emphasizes that what happens in the booth stays in the booth, urging voters to make their own decisions.
The group also released a similar ad narrated by Julia Roberts, targeting female voters and highlighting the importance of women’s rights in the voting process. Both ads aim to empower voters to stand up against pressure from the MAGA movement and make their own choices in the voting booth.
Doug Pagitt, the executive director of Vote Common Good, states that the goal of the ads is to remind voters that they have the ability to break with their Republican friends and family members. The group was founded in 2018 as a progressive response to Trump’s popularity among conservative evangelical Christians, with the hope of mobilizing voters to support more progressive candidates in the upcoming election.
