Louisiana breaks previous early voting record in ArkLaTex Politics

Louisiana saw record-breaking numbers for in-person early voting this year, with 849,784 voters casting their ballots between October 18 and 29. This was about 30,000 more than in the 2020 presidential election, setting a new record in the state. On the final day of early voting, 103,456 voters showed up to cast their ballots in person, breaking the previous record of 99,004. In northwest Louisiana, voter turnout varied with 40% of voters in Desoto Parish and 25% in Caddo Parish casting their ballots early.

Caddo’s clerk of court, Mike Spence, expects a good voter turnout on election day and reassured voters that the results will be tallied quickly and accurately. He emphasized that the voting process is secure and encouraged voters to cast their ballots without worry. The justice department also reiterated that the voting process is free of discrimination, intimidation, or criminal activity.

As election day approaches, voters are urged to double-check their precinct locations and contact the Caddo Clerk of Court with any questions or concerns. All mail-in ballots must be turned in by 4:30 p.m. on Monday preceding election day. Louisiana residents are encouraged to exercise their right to vote with confidence that their voices will be heard and their votes will be counted accurately.
