CEO of Woodside announces plans to involve multiple partners in Louisiana LNG project by March

Woodside Energy, an Australia-listed company, is planning to bring in partners for its Louisiana LNG project by the first quarter of 2025. The company is looking to sell a 50% stake in the project, which has the capacity to convert U.S. shale gas into 27.7 million tons of LNG per year. Woodside CEO Meg O’Neill has been in talks with various potential partners including U.S. natural gas producers and LNG buyers, as well as infrastructure investors. The goal is to create a partnership where each member brings valuable expertise to the project. While O’Neill did not disclose specific companies, Reuters previously reported that Woodside was in discussions with Tokyo Gas. The estimated cost of the project is around $900 to $960 per ton of LNG. Woodside is confident in its ability to finance its share of the project and plans to secure natural gas supplies after making a final investment decision. The project is expected to start production in 2028.
