Connecticut’s congressional delegation, including Democratic Reps. Jim Himes, Jahana Hayes, Joe Courtney, and John Larson, as well as Sen. Chris Murphy, were all targeted with bomb threats at their homes on Thanksgiving. The threats were part of a coordinated effort involving multiple members of Congress and public figures. Despite the threats, no bombs were found at any of their residences. Local and state law enforcement responded to the threats, but no explosive materials were discovered. The lawmakers expressed gratitude for the swift response of law enforcement and reiterated that there is no place for political violence in the country. The U.S. Capitol Police and the FBI have not yet commented on the threats. This incident comes after an increase in threats to members of Congress in recent years, with more than 8,000 incidents investigated last year. The latest threats also follow similar incidents targeting President-elect Donald Trump’s planned administration officials earlier in the week. Megan Lebowitz, a politics reporter for NBC News, covered this story with contributions from Kelly O’Donnell.
