Jefferey Pollard, a second-generation Christmas tree farmer from Crossnore, North Carolina, faced challenges this year when Hurricane Helene devastated the area before the harvest could begin. As a volunteer firefighter, Pollard helped clear fallen trees and provide supplies to those affected by the storm, while also dealing with the loss of hundreds of young trees on his family farm.
Despite the setbacks, the Pollard family persevered and continued to provide Christmas trees to customers in Lafayette, Louisiana, where they have been selling for over 40 years. With a range of trees available for purchase at their lots, Pollard assured customers that there are still plenty of options to choose from.
While the storm impacted the industry, tree farmers like Pollard remain optimistic about the holiday season. Prices have increased slightly this year, but the tradition of picking out a real, live tree remains strong for many families. Pollard emphasized the importance of family traditions and encouraged customers to shop for their trees in late November or early December. Ultimately, the Pollards continue to be dedicated to providing quality trees and spreading holiday cheer to their customers.
