Colonels Stage Comeback to Win Thrilling Game in Louisiana, 76-75

Nicholls State University’s men’s basketball team secured a thrilling 76-75 victory over Louisiana after erasing a 15-point deficit. Michael Gray Jr. shone in the second half, scoring all 19 of his points in that period, while Byron Ireland sealed the win with crucial free throws. The Colonels, who had struggled initially, staged a remarkable comeback by sinking multiple three-pointers in the second half, led by Gray and Jaylen Searles.

After a slow start, Nicholls dominated the latter half of the game, showcasing strong offensive performances. The win marked an end to their five-game losing streak against Louisiana and was their first victory over the team since 1988.

The team will now shift its focus to Southland Conference play, with upcoming home games against Southeastern. Nicholls is set to face them on December 5th at 6:30 p.m. This win not only boosts the team’s morale but also sets a positive tone for their upcoming conference games.
