LSWA announced that Ed Daniels and Glenn Guilbeau have been selected for the 2025 Distinguished Service Award in Sports Journalism. Both journalists have been highly regarded in Louisiana for their work in sports media. Daniels, who passed away in August, was known for his coverage of sports from the professional level to high school competition in the greater New Orleans area. Guilbeau, a longtime writer focusing on college sports, specifically the SEC and LSU, has won multiple awards for his work. They will be among the 11-person Class of 2025 being inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame in Natchitoches next summer.
The Distinguished Service Award recipients are chosen based on nominees’ professional accomplishments, with leadership in the LSWA and three decades of work in the profession as key factors. Daniels and Guilbeau will join the elite group of individuals honored with this award since its inception in 1982.
The 2025 Induction Ceremony will include a star-studded group of inductees, including LSU and NFL star Andrew Whitworth, pro basketball All-Stars, coaching greats, and other distinguished individuals in Louisiana sports. The weekend will also feature various events and opportunities for the public to participate in the celebration.
Overall, the 2025 Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Induction Celebration will honor the contributions of Daniels, Guilbeau, and other sports figures in the state, showcasing their impact on the world of sports journalism and athletics in Louisiana.
