After five vibrant decades in New Orleans media and politics, Clancy DuBos is set to retire at the end of this year. DuBos, the political editor of Gambit and a columnist for The Times-Picayune, plans to step down to focus on enjoying life at the age of 70.

Starting his journalism career as a Times-Picayune intern in 1973, DuBos covered significant events such as the UpStairs Lounge fire. He later became the owner of Gambit, which he sold in 2018 to John Georges, the owner of The Times-Picayune | The Advocate.

Throughout his career, DuBos chronicled the rise and decline of New Orleans’ Black political groups and navigated the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Trusted by political sources, he penned columns holding leaders accountable while praising them when appropriate.
