Manischewitz to support the first Jewish quarterback in BYU program history

Brigham Young University quarterback Jake Retzlaff, the first Jewish quarterback in program history, has signed an NIL sponsorship with kosher food company Manischewitz. Retzlaff, known as “BYJew,” is one of three Jewish students at BYU and has led the Cougars to a 10-2 record. He has thrown for nearly 2,800 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions this season. Manischewitz, founded in 1888, makes kosher products such as matzo, macaroons, and wine.

Retzlaff grew up with Manischewitz products like matzo, matzo pizza, and potato latkes, and now shares these traditions with his teammates at BYU. In a partnership video, Retzlaff is seen doing football drills with a box of matzo. Manischewitz will release limited-edition Jake Retzlaff Matzo Boxes and produce video content featuring Retzlaff sharing his story and connection to the brand on social media.

Chief Marketing Officer of Kayco, the parent company of Manischewitz, Shani Seidman, expressed pride in welcoming Retzlaff to the Manischewitz family and supporting his football career. The partnership aims to celebrate Jewish heritage, raise awareness of Jewish food, and highlight Retzlaff’s athletic achievements. The collaboration between Retzlaff and Manischewitz is seen as a way to create connections, celebrate Jewish pride, and bring awareness to Jewish culture in the sporting world.
