UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was shot and killed outside the New York Hilton Midtown hotel, and the person of interest in the case was seen near a bus station after the crime. The suspect arrived in New York City from Atlanta and was captured on video at various locations before and after the killing, including at the hotel and Central Park. Police believe the man acted alone and may have left the city. The suspect checked into a hostel, wore a mask the entire time, and paid with cash and a potentially fraudulent ID. Three pieces of ammunition with words written on them were recovered at the crime scene. A $60,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the suspect’s arrest and conviction. The investigation is ongoing, and police are working diligently to gather evidence for a future trial. The police department in Atlanta is assisting in the investigation. Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny emphasized the need for patience in solving the case and ensuring justice for the victim and closure for his family.
