Richard Coles has broken a record during his time on the popular show I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!. Co-host Declan Donnelly revealed that the Church of England priest has participated in the most Bushtucker eating trials in the show’s history. During the finale episode on December 8th, Donnelly and Ant McPartlin recapped the journeys of this year’s finalists, which included Coles, Danny Jones, and Coleen Rooney.
Coles, who rose to fame as part of the synth-pop duo The Communards before becoming a priest, surprised viewers with his ability to stomach a variety of disgusting dishes during the challenges. He has eaten everything from fermented Baltic Sea herring to bull’s tongue and camel’s vagina, winning meals for his fellow campmates in the process.
Despite the unappetizing fare, Coles managed to power through and even joked about needing to “ween himself off them by wearing camel anus patches.” In an interview with McPartlin and Donnelly after finishing in third place, Coles mentioned that he actually felt the benefits of the calories, even if the food was less than appetizing.
Overall, Coles has made a lasting impression on viewers and has cemented his place as a record-holder in the show’s history. I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! aired on ITV1 and ITVX, keeping audiences entertained with its mix of challenges and celebrity drama.
