Baker Hughes wins contract for gas technology order in third expansion phase of Jafurah Gas Field.


Baker Hughes has been awarded a significant order to provide gas compression and propane compressors for the third expansion phase of Aramco’s Jafurah gas field in Saudi Arabia. The order, awarded by Tecnicas Reunidas in the fourth quarter of 2024, includes six gas compression trains and six propane compressors. Baker Hughes will supply state-of-the-art electric motor driven compression solutions from its Damman Center in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, to support production in one of the country’s largest unconventional gas fields.

Ganesh Ramaswamy, executive vice president of Industrial & Energy Technology at Baker Hughes, highlighted the importance of gas as a reliable, abundant, and lower-carbon energy source. He expressed confidence that Baker Hughes’ advanced gas compression technology will enable efficient and reliable production from the Jafurah field, aligning with Aramco’s vision and contributing to Saudi Arabia’s energy development goals.

This latest order further solidifies Baker Hughes’ longstanding partnership with Aramco, which includes the supply of compression solutions for various projects in Saudi Arabia. The company has previously provided equipment for the Haradh and Hawiyah gas plants, the first phase of the Jafurah gas plant, and the third phase of Saudi Arabia’s Master Gas System project. Baker Hughes continues to demonstrate its expertise and commitment to supporting the energy sector in Saudi Arabia through innovative and reliable solutions.
