ULM Sophomore Louis Anceaux Wins First Collegiate Title at Vaqueros Intercollegiate

Playa Del Carmen, Mexico – Louis Anceaux, a sophomore at the University of Louisiana Monroe (ULM), claimed his first collegiate title at the Vaqueros Intercollegiate with a score of -6 (210) on Tuesday, February 4th at the Playa Paraiso Golf Course in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. Anceaux, a native of Groslay, France, opened the tournament with a stellar round of 68 and continued his strong play in the following rounds to secure the individual championship.

As a team, ULM finished tied for ninth out of 15 teams with a score of +48. Theis Poulsen contributed with a second-round score of -3 (69) and finished tied for 32nd overall at +11 (227). Rory Milne and Tommaso Rossin also posted respectable scores for the Warhawks, finishing in 52nd and 60th place respectively. Javier Balbastre and Caden Lester rounded out ULM’s lineup for the tournament.

SMU was the overall team champion, finishing at even par and winning by 15 strokes. UTEP and North Texas placed second and third respectively in the competition. ULM’s men’s golf team will continue its spring season at the Border Olympics on February 17-18 in Laredo, Texas.

Anceaux’s impressive performance and the team’s solid showing at the Vaqueros Intercollegiate set a positive tone for the rest of the season. With their sights set on further success, the Warhawks are motivated to build on this early success and continue to compete at a high level.
