Sources suggest that home burglaries targeting pro-athletes could be connected to a raid in New York City’s Diamond District.

The FBI and NYPD raided a business in New York City’s Diamond District that was involved in a fencing operation with a South American transnational theft group targeting homes of wealthy individuals. Two men, Dimitriy Nezhinskiy and Juan Villar, were arrested on charges of receiving stolen property. Investigators are looking into whether suspects connected to recent burglaries, including in Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow’s home, are linked to the fencing operation. The suspects allegedly traveled around the United States committing burglaries and selling stolen goods like luxury accessories. The operation was believed to have been going on for at least five years, creating a market for stolen goods. Further arrests were being made in Florida in connection with the theft group targeting NFL and NBA players. The FBI and various law enforcement agencies are investigating a wave of break-ins targeting athletes and wealthy individuals, with high-end stolen goods being bought and resold by the fencing operation. The U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York vowed to pursue transnational burglary crews involved in these crimes. NBA star Luka Doncic, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, and others have had their homes targeted in these burglaries.
