Hammond Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit successfully located and arrested Jerret Cook, 37, who had outstanding felony warrants, after a high-speed chase through Hammond and Ponchatoula. Cook was also wanted by Louisiana Probation and Parole. The department thanked Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office and Ponchatoula Police Department for their assistance in the arrest. In a separate incident, Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Devon Poirier, 33, on charges of sharing child pornography online. Poirier, an over-the-road truck driver, was identified as the source of the transmissions and was taken into custody by St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office. Additionally, Thomas “TJ” Joseph, 51, of Ponchatoula, was arrested for selling methamphetamine and other illegal narcotics. Joseph, a convicted felon on parole, was booked on multiple drug-related charges. Hammond Police Department urged citizens to report any illegal narcotics activity to help combat drug trafficking in the area. The department emphasized that such criminal activities will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
