Marvellous Asemota, a sprinter for Southeastern Louisiana University, recently made headlines by breaking the school record in the 60-meter sprint at the Vulcan Invitational meet hosted by the University of Alabama-Birmingham. Asemota tied the previous record in the preliminary round and went on to break it with a time of 7.46 seconds in the final, securing a gold medal. This victory was one of three record-breaking performances by Southeastern’s track & field team at the meet.

Terrell Webb set a new school record in the weight throw, while Olu Ogunyemi broke the school record in the 60-meter hurdles. Both athletes took home gold medals in their respective events. Other notable performances by Southeastern athletes included Donroy Brown winning a silver medal in the shot put and Onyah Favour earning a bronze in the 400-meter sprint.
