Southeastern Louisiana University’s head softball coach Rick Fremin celebrated his 300th win at SLU as the Lady Lions split a pair of games on the final day of the Tiger Classic at Tiger Park. Fremin reached this milestone with a victory over Central Arkansas, showcasing his coaching prowess since taking over the program. With three consecutive 40-win seasons and a 300-184 record in Hammond, Fremin has proven to be a successful leader for the Lady Lions.
In the opening game against Central Arkansas, Southeastern secured a 5-0 win with Macie LaRue pitching a shutout and standout performances from Ariel Gomez and Colleen Kulivan at the plate. Despite a tight contest against No. 10 LSU, the Lady Lions showed resilience and potential, ultimately falling in a close 3-2 match.
Looking ahead, SLU will kick off their home schedule by hosting Louisiana Tech, with hopes of continuing their success. Fans will have the opportunity to witness the unveiling of the 2024 Southland Conference Tournament championship and NCAA Regional appearance signage. Additionally, postgame autographs will be offered, giving supporters a chance to connect with their favorite Lady Lions.
The team’s recent achievements and promising performances highlight a season filled with potential and excitement. As Coach Fremin guides the Lady Lions towards further success, there is no doubt that Southeastern’s softball program is on a winning trajectory.
