Man from Louisiana apprehended in connection to hazing-induced fatality of Southern University student age 20

A tragic incident involving the death of a 20-year-old Southern University student, Caleb Wilson, has led to one arrest and the expectation of two more individuals being arrested in connection with the incident. The student died as a result of hazing during an off-campus fraternity ritual, where he was punched in the chest multiple times while pledging to Omega Psi Phi fraternity.

Caleb McCray has been arrested and is facing charges of manslaughter and criminal hazing in Wilson’s death. He maintains his innocence and urges the public to withhold judgment until all the evidence is heard. In Louisiana, hazing can be a felony under the Max Gruver Act, which imposes severe penalties for those involved in hazing incidents.

The fraternity’s campus chapter has been ordered to cease all activities, and students involved in the incident could face expulsion. The university has barred all Greek life organizations from taking on new members for the rest of the academic year. A vigil was held in Wilson’s honor, where friends and family remembered him as a talented and driven individual. Omega Psi Phi fraternity has not yet responded to requests for comment on the incident.
