Marshall Softball split its doubleheader against Louisiana in a conference-opener, winning the first game 6-5 and losing the second 7-1. Senior Rielly Lucas played a key role in the win with a four-RBI performance, including a go-ahead double in the 6th inning. Pitcher Bub Feringa threw a complete game to secure the victory, working around a tough 3rd and 4th inning. The Herd’s defense was also strong, throwing out three Louisiana runners trying to score at the plate in the second game. Marshall will face Louisiana again on Saturday in an attempt to end their 89-series winning streak.
