Louisiana’s Mr. Football chooses Big 10 over In-State Colleges

Xavier Ford, a record-setting high school football player from Leesville, Louisiana, turned down offers from in-state colleges Tulane and UL-Monroe to play for Minnesota. Ford, who was named Mr. Football by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association, had an impressive high school career with 8,591 rushing yards, 118 touchdowns, and receiving stats to go along with it.

Despite not receiving offers from all Louisiana college programs, Ford ultimately chose Minnesota due to his connection with the running back coach and the program’s focus on personal, character, and physical development. Ford, a 3-star recruit, was ranked as the 35th best prospect in the state.

While Ford may have been upset about not receiving offers from schools like ULL or LSU, his decision to play for Minnesota shows his determination to succeed at the next level. With his impressive high school statistics and dedication to personal development, Ford is poised to make an impact for the Golden Gophers and continue his football career at the collegiate level.
