New York authorities have identified Agustín Escobar and Merce Camprubi Montal, a married couple from Spain, as two of the victims who died in the fatal helicopter crash on Thursday. The couple’s three children were also killed in the accident, along with the pilot. Escobar was a senior executive at Siemens, a German technology firm, and previously served as the CEO of Siemens Spain. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez expressed condolences, calling the crash an “unimaginable tragedy.” The helicopter, which was a tourist flight, took off from the Wall Street heliport and lost control near the George Washington Bridge before plunging into the river. Eyewitnesses reported seeing the helicopter disintegrate upon impact. President Donald Trump described the crash as “terrible” and offered condolences to the families of the victims. The names of the other victims have not been released.
