The Louisiana National Guard’s 256th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, also known as the “Tiger Brigade,” will be honored at a special deployment ceremony on Sunday at the University of Louisiana Convention Center in Lafayette. Nearly 700 Guardsmen are set to deploy overseas in support of ongoing U.S. military operations across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. This marks the fourth overseas deployment for the 256th since 9/11, with the citizen-soldiers expected to spend over a year away from home including their pre-mobilization training in Texas.
The brigade has played a significant role in the state’s emergency response efforts, assisting in disaster relief operations across Louisiana. The community is encouraged to show their support and appreciation for the deploying service members and their families. The ceremony is a chance for locals to come together and thank these brave men and women for their service to their country.
