SLU Beats Islanders in Game 1 of Series

The Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team secured an 11-3 victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the opening game of a Southland Conference series. Lion pitcher Brennan Stuprich put on a stellar performance, allowing only three runs in 7.2 innings pitched. Stuprich’s win tied him for fifth in program history while also moving him into a tie for fourth in career strikeouts.

The Lion offense was also firing on all cylinders, with Ryan Brome leading the charge with a 4-for-6 performance at the plate. The team collectively pounded out 14 hits, including back-to-back home runs from Brome and TJ Salvaggio in the first inning.

Southeastern took control of the game with a three-run fifth inning, taking advantage of errors from the Islanders. They added six more runs in the sixth and ninth innings to secure the victory.

The series continues on Saturday, with live coverage on ESPN+. Fans can also stay engaged with the team through social media and the Lions Gameday Experience app.

For those interested in supporting the baseball program, joining the Diamond Club or the S Club is encouraged. All membership fees and donations go towards enhancing the Southeastern baseball program.

Overall, it was a dominant performance by the Lions, both on the mound and at the plate, setting the stage for an exciting series ahead. #LionUp
