Louisiana Tech Tennis player Zoie Epps broke a 43-year-old record set by Marla Watson with 23 singles wins in the season. Epps helped the Bulldogs secure victories over UTEP and Grambling State, finishing the regular season with a 17-8 overall record and a perfect 5-0 record against Conference USA opponents. Epps’ record-breaking win came in a dominant 6-0, 6-0 victory against Claire Machisa of Grambling State. Additionally, LA Tech finished the regular season with a 12-1 home record, the second-most wins in program history.
Head coach Amy Sargeant commended the team’s effort and hard work, expressing confidence in their readiness for the upcoming Conference USA tournament. Notable achievements include Epps setting a program record for most dual singles wins in a season, Mio Kozaki winning her fifth consecutive singles match, and June Vigneron clinching the victory against UTEP.
With the win over UTEP and Grambling State, LA Tech now leads in both all-time series. The Bulldogs also won the doubles points a record 19 times this season. LA Tech will now head to Lynchburg, Virginia, for the 2025 Conference USA Women’s Tennis Championship hosted by Liberty University.
