Entergy Louisiana has announced the launch of a comprehensive grid resilience program in the Capital Region, with a $400 million investment over the next four years. This initiative aims to upgrade 730 miles of distribution and transmission lines, as well as 20,300 poles, to withstand winds of up to 150 mph and improve the reliability of the electric grid in the face of severe weather events.
The project will benefit industries, small businesses, schools, hospitals, and residential customers in the Capital Region, supporting continued growth and attracting potential industrial projects worth over $30 billion. The grid resilience program is part of the Louisiana 100 plan, which focuses on building a stronger and smarter energy future for the state through data-driven strategies.
The initiative includes 2,100 projects statewide to reinforce 69,000 distribution and transmission structures, enhancing the power grid’s reliability and supporting economic activity across Louisiana. The program aims to reduce outages, speed up recovery, and ultimately save customers money by avoiding storm restoration costs.
