Legendary football coach Nick Saban is set to be inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame this year. The announcement was made by the LSU football program, with the induction ceremony scheduled for June 28 in Natchitoches. Saban is one of 12 inductees this year, along with four others who were involved with him during his time at LSU.
During his tenure at LSU from 2000-2004, Saban led the Tigers to their first national championship in 2003. He also won SEC Championships in 2001 and 2003, finishing with an impressive 48-16 overall record. After leaving LSU, Saban went on to achieve even greater success at Alabama, winning a total of seven national championships and 11 SEC Championships.
Despite being elected into the Louisiana Hall of Fame class of 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic postponed the ceremony until now. Saban has left an unparalleled legacy in college football, with an overall record of 292-71-1. He was inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in 2013 and is set to be a part of the December 2025 College Football Hall of Fame class.
Having retired from coaching in 2023, Saban is now an ESPN College GameDay analyst and an advocate for NIL regulations. At 73 years old, he continues to make a significant impact on the sport he loves. This well-deserved induction into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame is yet another testament to Saban’s greatness and enduring influence in the world of college football.
