A man accused of murder in Natchez has been arrested in Louisiana. William Jefferson Ray was found shot and killed at a home on Hillcrest Drive, leading investigators to a home in West Monroe, LA where Devin Wheeler was arrested for felon in possession of a gun. A loaded 9 mm pistol was found and sent to the Mississippi State Crime Lab. An arrest warrant has been issued for Wheeler for first-degree murder and Adams County deputies are awaiting extradition. Wheeler’s brother, Adam Wheeler, was also questioned in relation to the case but was released with no charges filed. The Adams County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation.
