The Children’s Museum of Southwest Louisiana has announced the opening of Port Wonder on April 21st, providing a fun and educational option for families during spring break. Located at 1011 North Lakeshore Drive in Lake Charles, Port Wonder will house the Children’s Museum as well as the area’s first Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Nature and Science Center. Initial hours will be 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, with admission prices of $16 for the Children’s Museum and $6 for the Nature and Science Center. The $25 million complex, which has been in the works for 7 years, is a public-private partnership involving the state of Louisiana, city of Lake Charles, and the Children’s Museum of Southwest Louisiana. The museum has asked for patience during the opening week as there may be high crowds and potential pauses in admissions. This new attraction provides an exciting opportunity for children and families to engage in interactive learning experiences during the school break.
