Louisiana Tech Softball Hits Milestone with Win Against Sam Houston
HUNTSVILLE, Texas – Louisiana Tech secured its 30th win of the season after a competitive doubleheader against Sam Houston on Saturday at Bearkat Softball Stadium. The Bulldogs now stand at 30-22 overall and 15-11 in Conference USA play.
The day began unfavorably for Louisiana Tech, falling 3-1 in the first game. Both teams entered the fifth inning with a scoreless tie, but the Bulldogs scored first thanks to a double from Alannah Rogers, which brought Claire Raley home. However, Sam Houston quickly shifted momentum, scoring three runs in the bottom of the inning, highlighted by Bella Perez’s three-run homer. The Bearkats out-hit the Bulldogs 10-4.
The second game saw a dramatic turnaround, with Louisiana Tech edging out a 5-4 victory in eight innings. The Bulldogs took an early lead with Reagan Marchant’s two-run home run, tying her for the program’s single-season home run record at 17. While Sam Houston initially retook the lead, Louisiana Tech responded every time, ultimately forcing extra innings. A crucial sac fly from Alexis Gilio in the eighth inning led to the winning run.
Allie Floyd played a pivotal role, moving to 21-12 after taking the loss in game one but earning the win in relief during game two, where she recorded her 300th career strikeout. Head coach Josh Taylor celebrated his fourth consecutive season with 30 or more wins.
The Bulldogs will look to close the regular season strong against Sam Houston in the series finale on Sunday, scheduled for 12:30 p.m. and available for streaming on ESPN+.
