Louisiana Tech Celebrates Student-Athlete Achievements at 11th Annual Techspy Awards
RUSTON – Louisiana Tech University honored its student-athletes during the 11th annual Techspy Awards, held Monday night at the Thomas Assembly Center. This cherished event recognizes the accomplishments of Bulldogs and Lady Techsters in athletics, academics, and community service.
Hosted by Gavin Kelly, the evening featured an impressive highlights reel showcasing the achievements of various sports, along with 15 Techspy awards and multiple individual recognitions. Nominees were drawn from spring sports of the previous season and from fall and winter sports of the current season.
Among the evening’s top honors, Zach Zimos of the Bulldogs football team received the Male Presidential Award, presented by University President Dr. Jim Henderson, for his exceptional performance and exemplary academic record. Robyn Lee from the Lady Techsters women’s basketball team earned the Female Presidential Award for her remarkable five-season career.
Ethan Bates of the baseball team was named Gatorade Male Athlete of the Year, noted for leading the team while securing multiple All-America accolades. Osaretin Joy Usenbor, representing women’s track and field, took home the Gatorade Female Athlete of the Year award for her record-tying performance at the season’s start.
Additionally, the evening highlighted performances from Sabastian Bradley-Reed and Allie Floyd, who garnered awards for Male and Female Performance of the Year, respectively.
Baseball was awarded Team of the Year for their outstanding 45-19 record, while community service recognitions went to the football and women’s basketball teams. Individual accolades for community service were presented to Isla Airey (women’s basketball), Annie Meador (soccer), and Alannah Rogers (softball).
The event was a fitting tribute to the dedication and talent of Louisiana Tech’s student-athletes, with many receiving accolades in academics and athletics alike.
