Louisiana Tech Softball Prepares for C-USA Tournament

RUSTON – The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs softball team has qualified for the Conference USA (C-USA) Tournament, concluding the regular season with a commendable 30-23 record (15-12 in conference play). As the No. 4 seed, the Bulldogs will kick off the tournament against No. 5 New Mexico State on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the WKU Softball Complex in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

The C-USA tournament features a six-team double-elimination format, with top seeds Liberty and WKU earning first-round byes. In prior tournament history, Louisiana Tech has appeared in ten C-USA tournaments since joining the league and boasts a record of 11-12. The Bulldogs are two-time champions, having claimed titles in 2017 and 2019.

Head coach Josh Taylor celebrated his fourth consecutive season achieving over 30 wins, marking a significant milestone for the program. This season saw standout performances from several players, with Alexis Gilio leading the team with 55 hits, followed closely by Elena Heng and Nicole Hammoude. Reagan Marchant, with 17 home runs, tied the single-season record for the Bulldogs.

Pitching ace Allie Floyd leads the C-USA in wins (21) and strikeouts (177), becoming the program’s all-time single-season record holder for conference wins (13). Joining her in the circle, true freshman Laney Johnson made notable contributions, while Alyssa Martin shone in the season finale with a near-perfect game.

Louisiana Tech faced New Mexico State earlier in the season, resulting in a 1-2 series record. The Bulldogs are eager to advance past the Aggies in their upcoming matchup.
