Louisiana Cuisine Highlighted in the Inaugural U.S. Regional Michelin Guide

Louisiana Joins Southern States in Michelin Guide Initiative

In a significant move for culinary tourism, the Louisiana Office of Tourism has announced its participation in the Michelin Guide American South. This inaugural regional food guide, set to launch soon, will spotlight Louisiana’s rich and diverse culinary traditions, including its renowned Cajun and Creole cuisines.

Michelin, known globally for its prestigious star-rating system, will evaluate restaurants on various criteria such as food quality, presentation, and service. The guide aims to recognize exceptional dining experiences beyond major urban centers, capturing the region’s authentic food culture in collaboration with other southern states, including Alabama, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

Doug Bourgeois, Assistant Secretary of the Louisiana Office of Tourism, emphasized that Louisiana’s unique offerings, particularly its fresh seafood and cultural dishes, continue to attract visitors. He noted, “It’s another way to Feed Your Soul when you visit.”

The full selection of restaurants will be unveiled later this year during the annual Michelin Guide Ceremony for the American South. This initiative aligns with the celebration of the "Year of Food," showcasing Louisiana’s historical and cultural significance on a global platform.
