Press Release: Significant Improvements in Louisiana’s Water Quality Ratings
NEW ORLEANS — A recent assessment highlights notable enhancements in Louisiana’s water systems, particularly among those previously ranked among the worst. Since tracking began in 2022 through the Breakdown, almost all of the poorly-rated systems have shown progress.
Key improvements include Orleans Parish’s Carrollton Water, which rose from a D to a C, and Belle Chasse Water District in Plaquemines, climbing from an F to a D. Remarkably, Point a la Hache achieved an A rating from a D. St. Tammany Mobile Home Park also saw a significant boost, moving from D to A, while Cross Gates Water Systems, despite its historical challenges, earned an A rating.
These grades reflect performance across seven standards, including maintenance and customer service. It’s important to note that a low rating does not automatically indicate unsafe drinking water.
