On Friday, a spokesperson for Taylor Swift addressed a subpoena attempt to enlist her as a witness in the legal case involving Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. The spokesperson asserted that the subpoena is intended to exploit Swift’s name to generate public interest, calling it a move aimed at creating “tabloid clickbait.” The case concerns Lively’s allegations of sexual harassment against Baldoni during the filming of the 2024 movie “It Ends With Us,” as well as accusations of retaliatory behavior from Baldoni after Lively raised concerns about his conduct on set.
Lively’s lawsuit, which she filed late last year, claims Baldoni and others orchestrated a retaliatory scheme to silence her and others. In response, Baldoni has labeled Lively’s claims as “completely false” and accused her of waging a smear campaign. He has also pursued a libel lawsuit against The New York Times for publishing details of Lively’s allegations and has filed another lawsuit against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and her representative, accusing them of defamation.
Swift’s team clarified that she had no involvement in the movie beyond licensing music, and she had no connection to the production process or the events surrounding the lawsuit. The reference to Swift in Baldoni’s 179-page suit arises from a text message where “Taylor” is mentioned, confirming her identity as Swift, a close friend of Lively. Swift is not a formal party in the case, and a trial is scheduled for March 2026 in New York. Baldoni is seeking a staggering $400 million in damages.
