PSSI Global Services Strengthens Video Delivery with Appear Technology Investment
PSSI Global Services has announced a significant investment in its video delivery capabilities, acquiring an extensive array of advanced transmission hardware from Appear. This acquisition includes multiple X20 chassis, HDR HEVC encoder and decoder cards, as well as hardware-accelerated SRT (Secure Reliable Transport) cards, enhancing PSSI’s IP and HEVC infrastructure. Additionally, the purchase comes with BISS-CA addressable encryption licenses, which will safeguard high-value live broadcasts.
The new equipment will be instrumental in supporting major upcoming live events such as the FIFA Club World Cup and FIFA World Cup. PSSI is also designing innovative multi-path field transmission kits based on the Appear X Platform, aimed at bolstering remote production capabilities for leading sports entertainment clients like UFC, WWE, and FOX Sports.
Derek Blount, CEO of PSSI, emphasized the commitment to delivering top-tier broadcast transmission solutions, stating, "Whether over satellite, fiber, or IP, this investment in Appear technology reflects our ongoing dedication to the most prominent live events worldwide." He noted that the Appear X Platform offers the flexibility and scalability needed to accommodate a wide range of production demands.
Ed McGivern, General Manager of Appear North America, recognized PSSI as an early adopter of the Appear X Platform in remote event contribution, remarking on the expertise of PSSI’s engineering team in the technology. He highlighted the advantages of combining PSSI’s service expertise with Appear’s innovative compression and processing capabilities, which promise substantial benefits for clients in the live events sector.
